Sunday 12th September - Sea kayak Explorers Trip - North Cornwall - Daymer Bay to Port Issac
The weather looks kind this weekend and I will lead a trip from Daymer Bay on the Camel Estuary around to Port Issac. As ever with the North Cornish coast this trip will be weather dependant however we have plenty of options is the weather turns against us however the forecast is good for the weekend. This trip is open to all club members who have participated in the sea kayak training this year and have been on club trips at sea.
North Cornwall is not as far as it sounds because if you put Daymer bay in your satnav the travel time is circa 1 hr 15 minutes from J30 of the M5. Plenty of car parking at the beach car park and high tide at 9.45 which will help us out of the river. Can I suggest 10.00 am on the beach which will mean you need to leave the club by 8.30 if you need to load a boat. This will be an explorers paddle picking up all of the sea caves. I plan to be back on the beach between 3.00 and 4.00pm.
You will need lunch and all normal safety equipment to be at sea.

Sounds lovely, unfortunately can't make this one but enjoy and share some pictures please.
With Jane and Kwinten having signed up we now have plenty of safety cover to support novice paddlers provided you have been on previous sea trips and have completed the majority of the sea kayak training. We will aim for Port Issac but if the sea or weather conditions on the day slow us down we have various alternative lunch spots on route. Plenty of good pasty and ice cream shops at both ends of this trip. I can carry a boat and passenger on the way down but will need to put any passenger in another car on the way back because I plan to stay overnight in Cornwall. If you are not certain about your experience level and the suitability of this trip for you please ask and we will let you know.
Regret I am on holiday in Cornwall next 2 weeks. I fear that might put a hex on the weather for you! Love the 'Explorer' genre.

To avoid any confusion on timings I did mean 10.00 am at the beach car park with a view to being on the water by 10.30. At high tide the water is within 50 ft of the car park. It is worth bringing a trolly for the recovery at low tide because it is a long beach a low tide. I will throw one in my car.
