I thought the new intake of sea kayakers, and maybe some of the not-so-new, might be interested in 2 training sessions on tides and basic navigation respectively. I used to teach this stuff to yachtsmen in a previous life. This would be 2 illustrated talks on the Tuesday evenings, 6.0 p.m., of 23rd and 30th September, in the main (downstairs) clubroom / bar. I plan to connect my PowerPoint to the resident TV set.The sessions will be:
1. Tides for Sea Kayakers, including: Causes, Tidal Cycles, Height and Range, Streams, Tide-associated Hazards, Tidal Offsets and Tidal Planning.
2. Navigation for Sea Kayakers, including: Maps and Charts, Position Fixing, Speed and Distance, Bearings, Course-to-steer and Passage Plans.
Each session will be about 90 minutes.
There should be space for all.

There is a projector in the cupboard in the committee room. This is a prompt for me to get it wired in ready for courses.
I'd be interested in this please!
Thanks

I'd love to attend!

If here is room I would like to attend.

Edit: Sorry should have included one of these ☺

Suggestion for a larger group is to use the clubroom and start the course at say 6pm or 6.30pm. You can link a laptop course straight into the tv.
I would also like to attend if there is space…
Thanks,
Matt
