Sea Kayak Explorers Trip - Monday 6th April Salcombe Estuary

Sorry for the very late notice but can I test the appetite for a sea kayak trip on Easter Monday. We will still have moderate winds from the South East on Monday but it currently looks like it might be sunny day. It will be windy in open stretches of the Estuary but we should be able to keep out of the wind by tucking under the banks of the Estuary. We will need an early start to catch the last of the tide up the river (High tide at 09.45) We will need to meet at North Sands Car Park by 8.45 and be on the water for 9.00. Please allow a good hour if travelling from Exeter. We will take the scenic route up to Kingsbridge for a coffee and snack stop before using the falling tide to counter any wind we might experience on the way back. We will be off the water by 2.00pm. This trip just about getting back on the water and getting some modest exercise. The pace will be set to for the group.

    For anyone reading this thread, this trip is still on. The wind has now calmed down considerably and it looks like a nice sunny day.

    If you are still up for the drive to Salcombe can I suggest that you get to me for 7.15 and then we should still be able to catch the tide most of the way to Kingsbridge. (This will be the full scenic trip). If you only want an exercise paddle and less travel Plan B would be to launch at Exmouth Dock and head up to the motorway bridge or salmon pool wear just above Topsham before coming back down on the river & tidal flow. For plan B we can meet at 7.45 am at my house which should have us on the water for 8.15. I am happy with both options. Your call.
