Sunday 29 March sea kayak trip UPDATED

Weather looks reasonable for Sunday, so I'll put on a SK trip. Reply if you would like to come.

Wind from the west and getting stronger as the day progresses. LW Dartmouth 10.20am. We want some shelter from the wind so

8.15am at the club, or 9.30am at Kingswear, slipway next to the sailing club. We can go out to sea with the last of the tide and head West for a while, if the wind is ok. Then back with the wind, and into the estuary if we are finding the wind is getting too strong. Aim is for a pleasant day rather than a fitness paddle. Fitness paddle was last weekend on the river Axe.

Laura I can give you a lift. We can load boats on Sunday, or on Saturday afternoon / evening if you contact me.

  • I would like to come

  • I hope to paddle Sunday, but I'm looking for a decent distance paddle. If that doesn't fit, I'll do my own thing.

Jane. I was thinking of doing the same but you have beaten me to it. As you say, the strong winds forecasted for the end if the week drop on Sunday. I am very flexible in the location and happy to drive.
  • If it does not prove to be a distance paddle I would like to come but will not be upset if I cannot!
  • I think I'm the outlier here Laura!
  • There is a group on the canal I can join otherwise…

Thanks for posting that Jane. I think I won't join this one. Not having raced last week I do need to invest in fitness, and if I wanted to do more than the club trip Dartmouth would leave me most exposed to the increasing conditions at the end of the day. See you all another time!
  • If Jane and Laura are travelling together I will see you down there. If Stuart or Rich are reading this thread and fancy coming along we can car share from my place. 8.00 am at my place.
  • Hi family commitments this weekend might spuddle along canal at some point hope you have a good paddle

  • Hi Owen
Laura and I have loaded two boats on my car. If you would like to travel in the same car, be at my house at 8.20am.

  • I will see you at Kingswear at 0930

  • I am all loaded up now. Will head down direct from hone. See you at 9.30
  • Great day out today. Lovely conditions. Great fun weaving between the rocks before heads down and into a modest breeze for 20 minutes to warm up those arms. A conveyor belt back with the wind and tide behind us. Then a loop up river to Dittisham and back to Kingswear. A great early season warm up paddle. Nothing too challenging but good exercise. This would have been a great trip for any beginners of improvers wanting to get out on the water.
