Sunday 1 September sea kayak trip for new and more experienced paddlers UPDATED

There will be a trip on Sunday 1 September, suitable for sea kayakers who are ready for their first trip on the sea, and for more experienced paddlers. The trip will go from a local beach, eg Teignmouth, Meadfoot at Torquay, or Exmouth. More details nearer the time, once the weather forecast is known. We will be looking for light wind conditions, so that hopefully the sea will be calm.

The trip will probably follow this pattern: 8am meet at the club to load boats, 9am at the launchpoint. 10am start paddling for c 90mins. Lunch stop, then another 90 minutes, perhaps including some skills eg rescue practice as the sea is warmer at the moment. c2.30pm return to the launchpoint and load up. Back to the club c 4pm.
Information on what to bring is here:
https://www.exetercanoeclub.org.uk/sea-kayaking-information/

Juniors who have been on one or more of the sea kayak courses are welcome to come on this trip, but will need to join the trip at the launch point as the club is not permitted to provide them with transport. Club members will be able to provide transport for the boats.

*UPDATE
Meet 8am club, or 8.45am at Belchers slipway Exmouth, EX8 1FB. Parking in nearby streets or Camperdown Terrace car park EX8 1EJ.

  • can I join please?

  • Sounds great Jane, thank you. I can take 1 person plus kayak
  • Me and Katherine would love to come. We'd need help with transport (us and Kayaks). If it ends up being Exmouth or Teignmouth we could get the train so would only need help with transporting kayaks.
  • I'd like to join and lead a sub-group, please

  • I would like to go to this please. Would need someone to a kayak for me if possible.
  • I’d would like to come if numbers will allow.
  • Hi Jane, will this be another opportunity for signing off skills? Would you please be able to share the list of skills we need to be able to demonstrate? I have kept a log on what I remember we did on the last assessment day, could we compare records please so we know how much is left to do? It would be such a shame to let it slip and stat all over again next summer. Looking forward to Sunday :-)
