We are looking at White/ moving water trips and would like to gauge interest as to who would be interested.

Could you post below if you are interested and whether you are novice, have done some White water or are experienced

Many thanks

  • I'm interested in a bit of white water kayak or canoe. I've done a few beginner trips and would like to ramp things up slowly.

  • Yes I'm interested. Did a couple trips in a short boat a few years back but that's all.
  • I am very interested. I have done white water on the Sea i.e. rock hoping and gone over the small weirs on the Ex in a small kayak. I have done a few rolls in the pool but not in cold water fully suited up so not sure if I can do it under those conditions. Other than that I would say I am a novice.

  • I'd potentially be interested in a couple of novice trips this autumn.
  • Yes I really enjoyed the beginner white water kayak trips last year:)
  • yes interested - 25 loops in last couple of years

  • Yes please. 3* short boat. Used to able to paddle grade 4 rapids a decade ago. A bit rusty now!
  • Yes please im interested not new to white water

I'm interested, have not got any experience on moving water in a short boat yet but would be good to make some progress through the autumn and experience whitewater!
  • I would be keen to paddle and help on Club trips up to G3, so equivelant of Dart Loop. However, I am especially keen to help on beginner trips, so that they can improve, and help me out in my dotage!!!

  • I'd be very interested please, complete novice aside from the explore course this summer. Thanks!
  • I’d be interested in some beginner trips. Did the short boats explore course this summer so would be good to try it on moving water
  • I'm keen to progress and have paddled grade 3 a few times.

  • Very interested

  • Interested and a newbie, bring it on!!

  • Yes please, when I can. Novice.
  • Keen for sure! Relatively comfortable on the Loop.
  • I’m interested but need to start as a beginner since I’ve not done white water for many years.

  • Sorry, I can't be at the meeting on Tuesday 26 September.

I do plan to lead and help on trips throughout the whitewater season, in kayaks and/or canoes.

I will put trips on the Forum when I think conditions will be right and I'm available, often at short notice though.

Like Nigel, I'm keen to help beginners to become proficient so some of the trips will be intended for beginners.

It has worked well in the past where we have had an intermediate or more advanced trip on the loop or lower Dart in the morning followed by a trip on the lower or even lower for beginners to moving water in the afternoon. I'm keen to repeat this, especially if some of the more competent paddlers are willing to stay and help.

The Teign between Fingle Bridge and Steps Bridge also lends itself to beginner paddling, especially if they have paddled the even lower Dart at least once.

Dart Loop, Newbridge to Holne BC land
Lower Dart |Holne BC land to the former cafe outside Buckfastleigh
Even Lower Dart Austins Bridge to Staverton

All are suited to half day trips, can be done quickly or take longer by stopping to play with features.

Let's not forget the Exe and its tributary, the Barle, some lovely beginner and more challinging trips there as well. Dulverton on the Barle is about an hour's drive from the Club and Tarr Steps maybe another 20 minutes beyond Dulverton.

    Hope this helps?

    Brian.

  • I am keen too - loved last years trips. Beginner.
