    On Saturday, local high water is 1pm albeit just after nepes. Ideally we would find it useful to paddle up the estuary with the tide reaching the campsite at high tide, but that would mean a very early start on Saturday.

    Can we aim to arrive at Kingswear Marina cap park at 09.30am to unload and pack kayaks and taking into account all the time it will take to load the kayaks, we could aim to be on the water by 10.30am. If we park at the eastern end of the car park, there are some steps down to Waterhead Creek where there should be enough water to launch. We can spread kit out in the car park.     Realistically, we will finish up paddling against the tide and it will probably be a little muddy when we reach the campsite.

    There will be no rush to launch on Sunday morning, but the launch will be muddy, and we will be paddling against the tide most of the way back. For parking purposes, I would suggest that we aim to be back in Kinngswear, by 4pm.

    The weather forecast is cold, so good thermals for kayaking and on-shore would be advised.

    I have three bags of wood for the camp fire that we can pack kayaks with. I will pack a tarp just in case.

    One thought, if canoeists want to join, please feel free but you will be responsible for organising your trips separately. If you fancy a shorter trip, you could paddle from Stoke Gabriel or Totnes taking into account tide.

    @Nigel_Sharpe as we've only 3 cars, do you think we might get away with offloading at the kingswear slipway? I don't think the parking through the arch is anymore expensive and avoids the mud.

    I suggested the Marina car park as there would be more space for the inevitable faff as we load kayaks especially as the tide would be covering most of the slipway. That said, our position is forced as the Marina car park that I suggested is closed so we will have to launch from the slipway

    Late change of plan due to potential parking problems at Kingswear and force 5 winds from the west. Paul and I have been discussing options - and think it would be better to park and launch from Steamer Quay at Totnes. Meet there at 09.30am

    Nice trip with a change of starting point from Totnes due to carpark closure at Kingswear. We experienced classic April weather of sunshine, showers and hail but all with high spirits.
