Do you want to paddle further? Rock hop through tighter gaps? Practise your rescues? Get more comfortable in bigger waves? Work on that roll? Feel more confident about surf?
Maggie and Martin will be leading small group (max 4 participants per leader) sea kayak trips this summer that have a strong coaching and skills practise element. Trips might be led jointly or separately.
Trips will suit any paddlers looking to progress their skills at levels above the club's 'improvers' canal-based course.
Perhaps you're relatively new and want to push on.
Perhaps you've already got the sea kayak or the coastal award but want some company to practise with.
Trips are likely to be on various days but mostly at the weekend. There may be evening sessions when the light allows.
Trips will vary to fit weather, tides, and your own ambitions. Some trips will have specific aims, some will just take advantage of opportunities. We encourage you to plan what you'd like to get out of sea kayak paddling this summer, perhaps in discussion with us or another coach, and we'll help you get yourself there.
Like the club's normal trips, these sessions will use various locations. You'll need to arrange transport yourself or with a buddy (there's no club insurance for transport). Trips will still be great days out, but journeys won't be the only aim.
These trips will prioritise:
* People who have a development plan roughed out, or at least a firm ambition (coaches will be happy to discuss).
* Paddlers who have done the canal based improvers course (as a minimum) and who have done at least 2 club sea trips (some trips will have additional prerequisites).
* People planning to join other club trips and who help out with club activities.
* People who say they want this (hint: comment below) and who are regular club paddlers.

Me too for when I am here this summer….
interested
Hi, I’m interested but can only do Sundays.
Coached paddles will of course always be advertised here on the forum, and everyone will need to sign up here, both for transparency and so club procedure is followed.
But, if you'd like to be part of a group chat (WhatsApp) for upcoming paddles led by me or Martin or both of us, please email your number to training@exetercanoeclub.org.uk and Martin will add you.
A group chat will help us match needs wants and expectations to the weather forecast as it evolves, and to find useful alternatives when the wind/sea state is predicted to be unhelpful - as is currently the case for the weekend (but that could all change).
Yes please
I have emailed to be in whats app chat
Hi, I've just joined the club and would be interested in these trips. I've emailed. I don't have a car so will depend on transport options.
