Can I ask everyone to have a think about what they would like out of coaching next year so that we can look at planning.
We have SUPs/WW boats/Canoes/Sea kayaks.
we normally try and put on sessions for all the craft, this year we didnt have a lot of take up for SUP.
Is there anything you want out of the club? ie something we havent covered in courses you have done so far (bear in mind we do have some restrictions on the canal). any thoughts or feedback is welcomed.
please feel free to post here, or feel free to email me on reccoach@exetercanoeclub.org.uk

As a paddler, I'd like to go out on some sea kayak award level trips and do some canoe sailing. I also could really use building up some capsize confidence again, preferably in a pool so I can also do some roll practice.
As a coach, I'd like to run an estuary trip as the main leader and get some supervised leading practice for sea trips.
We actually had a lot of interest in SUPs but only to do intro or basic safety sessions.
So I did a lot of family friendly mixed craft sessions at the weekends. Mainly with parents in kayaks and kids on SUPS.
I also did something like 30 taster sessions, but they often brought their own SUP and then instead of joining the club they joined local social SUP club Exmouth SUP.
This is totally fine with me, but I think we need to charge for taster sessions like this I mean that would have earned something for the club even if I'd only charged the adults or £10 a head for 2hr session or maybe charge as a session e.g. £30 for up to 8 people.
I love doing taster sessions and happy not to charge but just want to be clear about the interest is there but for taster and safety sessions and not what I was originally planning which was more skills development. TBF as a keen SUP person myself I am going on the Sea so I totally understand where they are coming from i.e. they want to get down to Exmouth ASAP.
Also, my son is now 10 and I want to run mixed craft sessions as I know his friends all like something different so some like kayaks and some like SUPs etc. I can run these on a week night and happy for an assistant kayaker so I can be on a SUP. I am envisioning this being kid/family friendly.
UPDATE: Emma and I can run the beginner/taster session/SUP/Mixed family sessions on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. We will schedule weekend sessions on demand.
I am happy to fit in as needed. For myself I need to find out my gaps in the sea kayak award so I can fill them. Then I would like sea experience / rock hopping in gradually more challenging conditions. For example surf or moving water. I am aware I need to develop confidence edging etc and with capsizing in order to do this..
Iād be interested in WW skills training and river trips. This would be also to do planning and logistics of running a trip on the rivers. In this case for us it would linked to the Dart and Barle, for example start and finish point options and retrieval.
I am also interested in WW skills training.
