  • This looks like fun. Have any sea kayakers done this before or are considering doing it?

  • I did it in a sea kayak today. There were maybe a dozen of us in total. The upper river was very twisty and really tested your steering and ability to not go sideways into a tree. The end was a nice stretch of estuary with a testing headwind.

Overall, good fun and great value for £10 (£8 if you book ahead - I couldn't make the reserve date so joined on the day.) Roadside unloading at the start then a 10 min drive down to the yacht/canoe club for free parking and a shuttle up (make sure you wait by the canoe club rather than yacht club.) Sandwiches, crisps, tea, and cake at the end. You can take basically any type of kayak/canoe/SUP although note that they start the slowest off first so wrap up warm for the wait if you're in a faster boat.
  • Glad you enjoyed it
