Saturday 16 June Exeter to Exmouth Kayak Rally
with route variation!
We would like to announce the date of our 2018 rally which this year, helped by the tide times, will take to the river much earlier on the route thereby avoiding the dead water of the canal and the perennial weed growth.
Our eighth annual Kayak Rally will start off as usual from Exeter Basin at an early time of 0800, but will leave the canal after a half a mile by the small low Marsh Barton Clapper Lane swing bridge at the playing fields, portaging 200m to the river just below the south weir (high tide 0922).
Topsham Sailing Club have been approached to include this event in their Exe Regatta programme (sailing events to be held the following weekend) and to provide a refreshment stop between 0900 and 1000 before we set off on the wider estuary with safety boat cover, following the channel markings to Exe Sailing Club, Exmouth for a barbecue from 1130.
