  • I’m new to the club and currently on the Sea Kayak Award course. Definitely up for this weekend and the family will tag along also. Will book the campsite ASAP.

Appreciate lots of boats are booked, One of the Nigel Denis Kayaks would be good. Can we collect it on the Friday before driving down? I don’t have a key as yet so will need to go when others are collecting their boats
  • I won’t be there until Sunday if that’s helpful with boat sharing
  • We normally arrange an evening to collect. Sometimes it ends up being a range of evenings……Maybe good chance to say gotta a couple of people who may need a lift for their boats too… I think next weekend probably will be when we come up with an evening date to load boats for some of us anyways 😊 if anyone has space to take boats let us know 😊 we would all be grateful. Thank you ☺️
  • I can’t come any more, apologies

I am in a London on the Saturday so I’ll be paddling on Sunday and Monday now.
If anyone is doing those two days and wants a lift with kayak & kit, let me know but it will be an early start. I can pick up a kayak on Wednesday so it’s ready to go on Sunday.

  • Jane I cannot really make any overnighting, but would love to come paddle for the Saturday - is that possible? and what would plans be for timings etc?

  • Lewis I've noted you can make Saturday. Decisions on which days we paddle will be made on Thursday evening when we have an up-to*date forecast. Keep watching the forum.

  • I have just looked at the forecast and do not think F5-8 will be in my comfort zone. I will keep watching the forum but I am thinking I will be likely to drop out…very reluctantly because this is excellent trip.

  • Thanks Jane, if it ends up being only Sunday I can probably change plans and make it then if theres enough leaders, will keep an eye!

  • I am very sadly unable to join this now. Sorry for late notice. I hope everyone has a brilliant weekend. Enjoy!
  • Happy to paddle, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. It all depends on that pesky wind hey.
  • I'm going to drop out because of the weather. Hope it turns out ok for those who do go. So that's the blue avocet LV free for someone else to use.

The weather looks OKish on Monday, but doesn't look good Saturday or Sunday with heavy rain, possible thunder and winds. The option of hiding from the wind by paddling in the estuaries isn't really available as the tides will be low and lots of mud. Camping in wind and rain doesn't look too fun, so I think that I will drop out but happy to paddle on Monday.

  • Hi all
I’m sorry to say that I have decided to drop out of this trip. Winds and rain plus my dodgy back were the deciding factors. Thanks to those organising and I hope the forecasters will be proven wrong and you get some good paddling.
    Will
  • Hi Jane, I see I’m on the list but should have confirmed sooner that I can’t make it due to family commitments. I hope this trip happens again next.year as it’s a wonderful site and great paddling options (familiar due to trips with Sea Kayak Cornwall based at Tregedna). Have a great time, Natasha
  • Hi All. After discussing the forecast with Jane, we have decided to cancel the trip to Falmouth. The forecast for Saturday is for force 7-8wind and 2m+ swell. The swell remains over a metre for Sunday and Monday. So to avoid 3nights camping in wet and windy weather we think it best to cancel. We will look at putting day trips on for Sunday and Monday. These will be posted separately on the forum, but due to the forecast they may have to be limited to those working towards coastal sea kayak award level or above- if the forecast improves we will try to open them up to sea kayak award level if it is safe to do so.
  • Thanks for the update 😊
  • Very understandable Rich. I saw the forecast again this morning and didn't think it looked likely!

Ill keep an eye out for other trips

  • Thanks for update

  • I called the campsite no refunds. But they will honour the booking until they close in October
  • Just wanted to say thanks for all those who had put time into organising or were offering to lead over the weekend - much appreciated even though not going ahead. Thank you all
  • (also - a few of us are commiserating with polo and pizza tomorrow (Friday) - on the forum and all welcome! )
