Wednesday 4 March Show & Tell

edited February 15 in General

On Wednesday 4 March we'll be hosting our first "Show&Tell"! The idea is to bring together paddlers across the rec side to share stories of kayaking & canoeing adventures. Let's get together in a social setting, showcase the diversity of what we do as a club, and inspire each other to start planning their next adventure on the water.

How it works: Share the story of a trip you joined or organised this year, a surf session, wildlife spotted, ... All stories welcome, from complete beginner to advanced. It's informal, and the more stories the merrier.

Format: up to 8 minutes per person; you have the option to use slides to show photos, routes etc, but definitely not required.

Where: Club room (i.e. the bar in the club house)

When: Wednesday 4 March, talks to start at 7pm, bar open from 6.30pm, room available from 6pm.

IT logistics: if you'd like to use slides, please send them ahead of time (we'll share an email address in due course) or bring them on a usb stick on the night.

Please add your name below, or just let me know if you'd like to present. Happy to chat or answer any questions.

I would like to give a sea kayak presentation

  • I like to share photographs either on this forum, or on the Club Facebook page - if anyone on any of those trips wants to give a presentation on a trip they have been on that I have photographed, please feel free to use my photos

  • I'll find some clips of my paddling over the years.

  • I can do source to the sea on the RiverThames. If the 4th fills up I can defer to the next session
  • I have photos from the Caledonian/Great Glen way from a few years back

  • I'm in Pembrokeshire paddling on 4th, but if you do another and if I can make it then I'm happy to share last year's Eddystone and Lundy trips, from a 'how to make it happen' perspective. Thanks for organising.
  • Thanks all, this is fantastic! (And Maggie, I'd love to hear more about the Eddystone and Lundy trips, as I'm sure many others would).
Just a reminder to anyone else considering it, it doesn't have to be an epic expedition, it can be about a regular paddle on the Devon coast, too.
  • I think I can make it down the club for then! Not sure I have any photos of anything from this year. But could perhaps do a quick spin on what birdlife we have seen on some of the trips and what we can find on the estuary etc over winter (getting a bit late now for any decent winter birding)

  • Sorry but I will now be in London on Wednesday. Some good talks on the list. I will contribute next time

  • I am extremely sorry, but I will not be able to attend as I have a work meeting that evening.

  • Hi all, it's almost time for our show&tell! I hope lots of you can make it to enjoy kayaking stories. For those of you presenting, if you'd like to send any slides ahead of time please send them to chris@prestonstreetfilms.com . Chris has very kindly agreed to help out with the IT :)
  • I can present something on a white water course I did if there's room for one more presentation. I'll email through some slides.

  • Would love to have come to this but I'm away at that time. Hope it all goes well.

  • I could present a report on a kayak trip from last summer
  • I havent gotten around to sorting anything out, sorry

  • These all sound like great presentations. Could I ask everyone who has slides to ideally send them to Chris (chris@prestonstreetfilms.com)? Tomorrow is ok too. Thanks :)
  • Sorry I can’t make it! But all sounds really interesting 😁
  • Thanks so much for organising @Theresa_L but due to work I am no longer able to make it I'm afraid - see you on the water soon!
  • Please do post on the ECC Facebook page too. I’m mostly a racer but really keen to see ocean adventure stories too, especially now I have a surfski. Will hope to get to the next show and tell.
