The trial kayak polo session last Wednesday was great fun, so we'll do more. This is open to anyone within the club who’s completed at least a beginner kayak course or equivalent. It is not a coaching session, but will naturally use and develop your paddling skills whilst having fun.
The principle game is based on kayak polo using short boats. This is essentially two teams against each other, passing the ball by throwing and trying to score the most goals to win. Splashes are probable and capsizes are possible (but not encouraged), so come prepared to get wet and ensure shoes and other items on your person are firmly attached. Play will stop if anyone capsizes, so there’s no need to be able to roll to take part.
Please bring a dark and a light-coloured top if possible to help define teams. Helmets are required and can be borrowed from the club.
We’ll aim to play in the canal basin and be ready at the club for 6:30. Pizza and drinks afterwards at Topsham Brewery is an optional extra.
Sign up below if you’d like to take part and feel free to come armed with other game ideas.
