Its a bit short notice to organise for 2026, but I was thinking for 2027 we run some activities (Harbour authority are in principle supportive of initial ideas).

My initial thoughts are things like-
Cardboard boat race. Juniors/adults?,
Home made raft race,
Raft race using materials on site (may need to get buy in and use of Haven Banks materials?).
Best Pirate ship decorated Canoe/ Kayak (and race?)
Best Pirate dressed Paddler
Best dressed pirate.

I have mentioned to AS Watersports and KayakHub and they are in principle with the idea and would promote etc.

Is anyone in the club interested in helping with planning/organising this?

All are currently free, but work does come in.

Let me know what dates are good for you to paddle (Canoes) and I will see what we can do venue wise.

The problem is that the sleeve is open ended, and not a pocket, as the other paddle floats are. Would some other sea kayakers try it out and see if they agree / work out how we can use it.

16 of the sea kayaks have been checked so far, but not all have been washed. the following could do with a wash:
358 aquanaut red
368 scorpio LV yellow: mildew in the front hatch
380 avocet plastic yellow
385 scorpio large yellow: done by Nigel
450 sportive red
457 sportive orange

The sea kayaks that have not been done are mostly on the outside rack, excluding the green scorpios that have been done.
Some of these kayaks are very grubby and need washing. Please help if you can, and update here to tell us.

Following on from the Chairman's message earlier this month about the new membership categories, WebCollect has now been updated with the new information and the new membership fees are now due.

If you are a spouse/partner of a member, parent of a junior member or former member who is no longer actively paddling, please choose 'Non paddling member'.

Core membership Including use of the club facilities, paddling, trips and coaching
Adult: £100 Junior / Concession: £80

Core “plus” membership Including the benefits of “Core” and the regular use of club boats / kit
Adult: £140 Junior / Concession: £100

Core “plus-plus” membership Including the same benefits as “Core” and “Core plus” and boat storage
Adult: £185 Junior / Concession: £145

If your situation changes during the year and you need to upgrade your membership, an additional fee can be paid to increase your membership level. These will be live in the coming weeks.

The reduced price 'Winter' membership for new members who renew after the 1st October is currently locked, but will be open later in the year.

As a reminder, if you remember the Winter Warmers talks at AS Watersports, these are more in a long series of talks of people undertaking their own adventures.

However, if you are feeling like you would like to know a bit more about what to take, and how to load a sea kayak, I will give a demonstration on the Quay at 6pm on Tuesday 24 March. It will be aimed at first time sea kayak campers.

Even if you are unable to join us on 11/12 April, you are welcome to join the demo and other experienced kayak/campers are welcome to come and share their experiences. There may be other opportunities to go for a sea kayak wild camp this year...

I have already posted the list of things I would take for an overnight camp on the post regarding the Sharpham weekend, but will also post it again below.

OVERNIGHT SEA KAYAK – CAMPING LIST
• Normal Kayaking Kit, including group first aid kit
• Travelling clothes – to and from get out. Can be left in the car.
• Shore clothes – packed in dry bags for when we get to destination.
o Warm coat / fleece/ hat
o Waterproof coat
o Changing robe / beach towel
o Shoes / boots
o Washing bag (carrier bag will do)
• Camping Kit
o Tent – one, two or three man - split onto separate dry bags. Poles can be stored at end of kayak.

How it works: Share the story of a trip you joined or organised this year, a surf session, wildlife spotted, ... All stories welcome, from complete beginner to advanced. It's informal, and the more stories the merrier.

Format: up to 8 minutes per person; you have the option to use slides to show photos, routes etc, but definitely not required.

Where: Club room (i.e. the bar in the club house)

When: Wednesday 4 March, talks to start at 7pm, bar open from 6.30pm, room available from 6pm.

IT logistics: if you'd like to use slides, please send them ahead of time (we'll share an email address in due course) or bring them on a usb stick on the night.

Hello Winter Warmers Crowd - some exciting news!
I’m Liam ex AS member of staff and ‘host’/organiser of Winter Warmers.
Mitch and Dan of AS Watersports are busy concentrating on selling kayaks, SUPS, drysuits and all sorts of outdoorsy paraphernalia! I on the other hand have missed sitting in a room with a fine crowd of people and hearing tales of adventure.
So I am delighted to say that AS have given their blessing and the admin controls to this page to help us launch a new adventure speaker series!
Welcome to Adventure On Tap. An adventure speaker series in Exeter.
This remains a community initiative. It’s going to be a very similar format so if you have enjoyed our Winter Warmers in the past you are sure to love this! We are working on a venue and it maybe that we use a number of different venues throughout the year.
The ‘Adventure on Tap’ team are two alumni of AS Watersports Rachel Symns and Liam Kirkham. We loved our time at AS Watersports and are excited to honour the Winter Warmers Legacy! Let’s keep this party going!
